Transplant Talk June 2013
Dear Rise,
Welcome to the June issue of Transplant Talk!
If you are running low on NFT brochures and information, or if you need to update your contact information, e-mail us at info@transplants.org. We'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for all you do to assist our patients!
Patient of the Month: Mark Leatherman
When Mark Leatherman was just 13, he was diagnosed with Berger’s disease, which had already begun damaging his kidneys. The doctor told his mother Mark’s kidneys would likely fail in about 25 years. That time has come, and doctors say a kidney transplant is critical to his survival.
For Mark, who has spent most of his life dedicated to health and fitness, battling such a debilitating illness has been a difficult adjustment. He began competing as a bodybuilder when he was 16, and he has been a professional personal trainer since 2000. These days, he can barely get out of bed, and he feels that he looks unrecognizable.
To read more about Mark or to make a donation to assist with his expenses, visit his personal fundraising page
