My Transplant Surgeon at University of Wisconsin Hospitals was Dr. Folkert O. Belzer. He was a really wonderful Transplant Doctor who engineered so much to do with transplantation. The write-up is on this link
and if you are interested in how transplants evolved, please read.

Dr. Belzer died at the age of 64 from colon cancer. What a great mind and such a loss.
He was the most gentle man and gave me such hope through some really difficult times.

Comment by Judith on July 14, 2012 at 5:29pm Thanks Mark! Dr. Belzer was such a wonderful man and had such great compassion. I had a very difficult time with my transplant, but he would come in and pat my feet and tell me not to worry that he had it ! I was so saddened by his death and felt that it was such a loss for us all.
