Share - which illness lead up to you needing a transplant?

Im an Alpha-1 Patient which none of my family had any knowledge of this Alpha-1 Antitrysin Deficiency or anyone in our family being a carrier or having such issues with there liver or lungs till I started get really sick more ofter and worse each time. Was told of the Emphysema back in 2007-08 was giving enhalers and set on my way till I wasnt dx in July of 2010 which unfortunally was to late for me to try to change things around so here I am fighting for a second change to breath a new life. I have strong hope, faith and love so I know I will be back on my own two feet again no matter what without the connection to a hole and a few feet of walking distance. The only place for me to go now is UP now matter which way it goes, I pushing for staying rooted here if it goes my way.

I was finally put on the transplant waiting list as of March 25th 2013 so I have a ways to wait but am doing so with patience. One day at a time as I tell myself and keep fighting to try to make Alhpa-1 and COPD more aware of as well as how important it is to become a DONOR!

Which Transplant Center has or will perform your life saving surgery?

I am hoping for University of Michigan. The doctors at U of M are wonderful and I am very pleased so far with everything they and there staff have done for me. If it wasnt for the prompt attention to my health issues I my still be in a position worse then what I am today.

Share how your transplant experience changed your life?

a transplant WILL change my life for the better, I will be able to be given a second chance of life to makes other more aware.

Share your interests and hobbies

hobbies are grandkids, camping, trail riding when I could, nature watching, boating and fishing (for big fish), baking and cooking for family get togethers such as big old fashion cook out, watching my kids enjoy their own children, alittle gambling to try to win a dream from time to time, like life is a gamble to start with, traveling to other states all over the USA, and plain just watching the wildlife and time go by sitting down by the lake in the wooden swingset made for two!
