I am Interested in Transplant Friends because...
I've been waiting 33 months for my transplant. I'd like to know if other lung transplants have waited this long, and what their experiences were while they waited. Mainly, I would like to trade experiences with others who are waiting too. I've been on oxygen 24/7 for 13 yrs.

Hi Rosemary,

Congratulations on your transplant! I'm sorry to hear about the lung colapse, but happy to hear that you are doing so well now.  I, too, think highly of the staff at Mayo, and, of course, have my favorites. Do you go to the support group meetings on Tuesdays?  When I come up to Jax for appts there at Mayo I try to make the meetings, because I'm always learning something new, and I enjoy seeing my old friends and keeping in touch. Perhaps I'll see you there when I come up next time? I hope to be able to go on the 26th of this month.  I'm doing very well with my lung function, but still seem tired and fatigued alot of the time. We're still working on that....

Once again, soooo nice to hear from you and happy that you're doing well.

Sally

Hello, Rosemary

I'm new to this site also and still trying to get the hang of it.   Have you consider being listed to more than one place?  I asked you because I was told the same thing on Mar 2010.  I was stable and functional but in April 2010 I landed in the hospital for about one month.  I was sedated for a couple of weeks and the pulm. dr's. came to see me and ask my family what happen I was just in the clinic and was doing okay.  I was told I had to get strong before I would be reevaluated, it took one year.  I was seen again in Mar 2011 went thru the tests and listed in April 2011.  I received my double lungs in May 4, 2011.  I was asked if I wanted to be listed in more than one place.

I suggest you join our lung transplant group. Perhaps you can gain some insights from the questions you have.  What have your doctors said about  your wait.

If you have any questions regarding this website you can send me a message and I will be able to answer you.

I wish you well,

Rise'
