Yes, I am.
How has transplantation changed your life? If Yes, please share.
Being a donor has had a much bigger effect on my life than I thought it would. And all positive. Mostly it gave me the courage to make some big changes to my life. Life is so very precious and I've discovered it's for living and not for passing me by.

Hi Jools, thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I too live by myself and my dog is not a great conversationalist either. She is a great dog though and is very loyal. It's funny I was thinking about getting a tattoo after my surgery as well. I am not planning on getting one as big as you did but I thought something around the surgery sight might be appropriate. They are going to take my right kidney as well using the mini open technique. We are shooting for a surgery date of March 29th if they get both recipients and the other donor worked up in the next couple of weeks. I've gotta go, having dinner with my girlfriend. See ya, Art

I go back and forth on this issue and really can't decide what is best for me. I'm leaning towards wanting to meet the person. Thanks for listening, I'll have more questions later.

See ya, Art

Thanks Jools, I do have a few questions for you. I've done quite a bit of research and I am pretty comfortable with physical aspects of the surgery. I am more curious about the mental part of it. I am a very happy person now and do not have many lows or highs. I guess you could say that I am pretty even keeled. I have been at this for sixteen months now and it's been an interesting journey. For a period of time I found myself telling people my intentions to donate with the hope of receiving their praise and admiration. I had made this about me and that's not why I started this. My question is after the donation how did you and how do you handle all the praise without letting it all go to your head.

Welcome Jools
to transplant friends:) I remember you from our buddies site. You are from the UK right? You are a member of our Living donor Heroes forum.

Tell me if I am wrong or right. I like to try and improve my memory this way. You were written up in a newspaper? Not sure but just curious.
