I am listed at Tampa General for almost 15 months now. I need two lungs and am type B +They never thought I'd wait this long nor did I. I am practically helpless. The biggest thing I do every day is shower and then have to sit for a while for the oxygen to come back up as it is in the low 80s. My husband does everything thank God. Green tea

My transplant coordinator said I can't drink green tea with the anti rejection meds. Does anyone know about this? I don't drink hot tea but Arizona diet tea with Splenda, green tea and ginseng. I drink it so I can get in all of my liquids every day. I am pre transplant double lung tx. On the list for 2 weeks now.

I can answer your question about the Green Tea. The Green Tea has been linked with some rejections. I used to drink it too and also drank some Pomagranet but that too we can't have. That works like grapefruit so is a no no. After transplant you cannot have caffeine so I can only have decaf tea and no herbal teas as well. I only drink decaf black tea. I always look for other decaf teas but never find them. The herbals aren't regulated and can be very dangerous. Better safe than sorry. I just make a pitcher of tea with tea bags and add Stevia to it and sometimes lemon. I had a kidney transplant 21-1/2 years ago with 2 rejections that they saved me. I don't do anything to rock the boat.

My prayers are with you that you get your lungs really soon. You might want to start your change with the tea now so you can be used to it!! :-)

My brother lives in FL, and just turned 65, so he now has health insurance for the first time in many, many years. I went on disability a few years before my transplant, so I was lucky and got the entire thing covered. My hospital didn't list people until they were within 2 years of death, so I spent a few years on their "inactive" list, and when my FEV1 dropped to 10%, they listed me, and I got my first call only 6 weeks later.
