By the way, Shands Hospital Jacksonville transplant center was shut down because patients were being transplanted with contaminated cadaver organs including the patient who provided me with the bill displayed. We have been auditing bills received by transplant recipients for the past 5 years. All of them, 100%, have had errors, always in favor of the hospital transplant center.
This is a bill from one person who received a cadaver kidney transplant at Shands Jacksonville transplant center before it was first put on probation and then closed down. The total organ procurement fee is $61,123.00. The OPO got $45,000.00 the hospital $16,123.00. The fees do not include surgeon, consulting physican or certain other bills. This person's insurance paid a total $197,000.00.
