Lemon Juice
Has your transplant center told you to stay away from lemon juice/products that contain lemons? http://www.transplantbuddies.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=481
I have never heard that lemons are bad for you post transplant but did read some posts a while back that said to stay away from citrus products.
I will continue to have lemon juice and use lemon on my foods in moderation.
I do believe if you have acid reflux that all acidic foods can give some people problems.

What about other citrus fruits, such as limes and lemons? The sour Seville orange and the grapefruit have been found to be relatives to the round, sweet green citrus fruit called the pummelo.2, 5 Researchers know that the skin and juice from the pummelo contain several of the same furanocoumarins that are found in the peels and juice of the grapefruit and Seville orange. It is highly possible that lemons and limes could be related to the pummelo and could cause the same type of food-drug interactions.2 Currently, more research is being conducted to determine if any of the other sour citrus fruits can interact with medicines."
they havent said anything about lemon but did say things about grapefruit though. some mango

Maybe it was that I drank too much?
I got the opposite info for my transplant docs. Lemon juice in water or iced tea is very good for the nausea we sometimes get from Prograf/Cellcept/Myfortic. Lemonade with a pinch of salt and sugar/Splenda is an excellent source of electrolytes. So, go ahead and take the lemon. But, as a liver transplant survivor, I can only beg all of you not to drink. It's tough enough on healthy people; can you imagine what it is doing to those of us who are immune compromised?
my liver went into 3rd stage and have thought i was drinking no more, but all doc tell me non-alco beer has some in it. So was a lot less hard to stop all together, in july this yr i was told by spec i may never need an tx becuse mines it trying to heal.
Permalink Reply by David on October 22, 2012 at 8:06am I have asked on other citrus types, and the only ones I was told to not eat or drink are Grapefruits, pomergranites, and Green teas .. I have been told the same with lemon juice as it helps with nausea { not that i have ever had any , extremely lucky me }
I hope lemons are not on the list, i do love lemonade ..
