Dear James,

I am so glad to hear that you have done so well with the medication since your small bowel transplant. It is interesting that we are both in our seventh year. I hope that you will have many, many more and find your path forward lined with many more blessings. It truly is a wonder to be alive, and I too try to thank God, my donor, and my donor family everyday. I know it had to be someone young because I am so small. I just hope I can honor that gift in how I spend my life now.  Keep your light shining as you have already brightened my day.

Dear Judee,

I am Bobbiejo. I had a six organ transplant (spleen, pancreas, liver, stomach, small and large intestine) about seven and a half years ago. I am willing to answer any questions as best I can. There was once a problem with my account on this site and I had to resign up. Perhaps that is what caused a problem. Best of wishes to you.

Just a comment on prograf. I am in my 7year post transplant, small bowel, and have

been on a high of15mg and low, now of 5. I have never had a problem at all. I take 27 Rx's daily and 70 pills. I begin taking them at 6am and finish at 10pm. I am thankful every day for the gift given to me by a beautifull youg lady of 18 that lost her life and helped many people with her organ donations. Hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Who is BobbieJo & why can't I find her on here?   I see her referred to regarding 6 organs.

Thanks.

Sharon, that is wonderful.  Hope you can stay at low dose to save your kidneys.

2 years out from heart transplant and My Tacrolimus levels are stable and I have no problems. I only take 1mg twice a day and myfortic (mycophenolate) for rejection.

I'm on prograf, 4.5 mg per day, as my only immunosuppressant, except for 2.5mg of steroid, have never had the problems others report here. Heart transplant, 3 years.

Kinda funny but Prograf and Tacrolimus never affected me at all or if they did I didn't know it.

Wow Bobbiejo, 6 organs is a really big ordeal.  I hope that you are doing well.  I respect you so much for being encouraging to other.

I just wanted to say to others that I had a kidney transplant 6 years ago. I remember vividly the first several months when i thought that things would never change. That I would take a ton of meds forever.  Then small victories started to happen.  They slowly would stop a pill. Then reduce a pill and then another would be stopped.  I thought of these as major victories.  I passed out on the tx team, had a biopsy as a part of relapse, but with each step got stronger.

Today I sometimes forget about having the transplant.  Not the actual kidney transplant but that I might have a weakened immune system.  I am so very thankful for my kidney and that I am doing well so far. I hope the same for all of you and that your experiences turn out to overall positive ones.
