This group was inspired by one of our members named Frank, who passed away a few years ago. He had asked me to create a forum just for this purpose. He said it would become very popular. Frank lives on through all of the people who loved him. We have many posts on transplantbuddies that he shared with us.

Let us keep his memory alive by participating in this group.

Very tiresome and busy day today.  Subbed for an after school program.  Nothing like 20 or so screaming, hyped up kids to wear you out!!!!!!   Good to be home!!!!!

Getting over an infection, feeling much better today.  Have a picc line to administer iv's thru, just afraid I'm going to get it caught on something.  Don't want my dogs to get curious and yank on it :(

Hello Mark, how are you doing?  Not sure what's causing it, it has moments where it's ok and then I'm itching.  Thought it might be high sugar but I've been watching it and I don't think so, then I thought it might be pinesol.  One day I was spraying some outside and some got on my feet.  I have a couple of appointments coming up at the end of the month.  I'll ask them then, if I don't tear off my skin by then :)  Hope you're doing great!

Hi Rachel. Sorry to hear about the rashes. Itching is an evil affliction. Have you discovered what has caused it? Hope you are doing ok :)

My day was pretty good but I've develop this rash on the inside of both ankles.  Just on the inside, not painful only when it's itching and need to scratch so bad.

Showed up for the first day of my scheduled kidney tx evaluation this morning. After several steps into the process, I met with my nephrologist. He flips through my file and says "First, Mr. Rhoads ... let's figure out why you are here." Turns out someone in his office jumped the gun in referring me to the kidney tx center - my GFR has returned to 45% (from 30). UNOS won't even list until < 20. He cut me loose. Unbelievable :))

Well this October 13 will be 3 years post liver tx. and now I have to see a Kidney Dr. for the past year because of the med.s that suppose to keep you alive ( prograf ) is now effecting my Kidneys, Liver is at 90% great now, and Kidneys are about 70%. One is larger than the other Doc. says nothing to worry about unless my Liver starts to go bad.. Ok  that's nice to know..

Welcome Dusty! How marvelous that you are nearing your 9th year transplant anniversary! My 8th is also in October but closer to the beginning of the month. May you have many, many, more to celebrate in the future. I too like your motto. It touches me especially because of my experience of transitioning from being on a ventilator to a tracheostomy and then breathing on my own again (one of my lungs collapsed soon after my surgery leading a long almost four month stay in the ICU). I had many times during the transition to breathing again on my own when I was scared that I was not breathing enough and thought about every breath until it became more natural and the fear dissipated. It taught me especially not to take each breath for granted.

I wish I lived near the beach like you do as I love the water, the sounds, the breezes, the colors, the smells etc., but at least I got to be near the beach for my transplant as it took place in Miami (I live in landlocked Kentucky although at least near a river). May you continue to keep hope as such a good companion and find new blessings every day. Best of wishes.

Hi Dusty, Congrats and hope you have many more.  I like your motto and it sounds like you found a wonderful place by the beach..
