Hi All,I was wondering if any of you have any insight on Allomap testing. The way I understand it, it can eliminate the need for a biopsy, based on the results of a blood test. So far I have had 2 of…Continue

Comment by Leslie Coolidge on May 6, 2013 at 11:46am Hello, I am new to the site. I am need of a heart transplant my self, but the doc presented my case to the board this past week and they decided that I have to do cardio before they will place me on the list. Is this normal some times? I know I am not in good shape at all and I can not receive an LVAD because I still have a hole open in the heart and plus most are put in on the left mine would have to be on the right. so please give me any advice thank you very much
Comment by Joe on March 11, 2013 at 9:38am My son (who is only 14 months post) went through a brief period where his kidney function began to suffer. We coordinated with the doctors to come up with a way to reduce his Prograf dosage and yet stay within targets. This happened in one manner because as he got further past transplant, his dosages decreased as his target decreased. The other way was to change from 2× to 3× daily. His total daily dose was decreased in this manner, as the more frequent schedule meant that trough intervals were decreased.
Thak you for the encouraging words.
Comment by hearttxp on March 10, 2013 at 3:21pm Carloyn Hang In there my friend. I did not have that problem But know many others who either had thier Kidney Txp or will soon. My Kidney function is all most Normal after 15 years post heart txp. But I suppose I may not be like most ? Just very very Lucky I suppose ?
I am 20 months post heart transplant and just found out this week that I will need a kidney transplant. Although Prograf prevented me from ever having a rejection episode, my gut and kidneys didn't do so well. I met one person in the linic who had a kidney transplant due to Prograf toxicity 5 years after his heart transplant. I am not in as good condition as I was prior to my heart transplant and my cardiologist is not in a hurry to expose me to high dose immunosuppression again. Besides i have a chronic staph infection of my chest wound (long story). ANyone in the group with heart and kidney transplants? Right now I'm feeling a bit like Humpty Dumpty.
