Transplant Friends

Please post responses to this discussion by sharing what confuses you regarding any feature on this site.

There is a difference between Sending a Message (private message) and posting to someone's wall.

To Send a Message (shared only between you and the person you are sending to.)

First select the friends page you want to connect with. You go the Friends link at the top.  Click on the photo/name.  This will take you to their My Place page/wall.

Then underneath the profile photo it says Send a message.  Just like with email there is a subject and a body in which you share your info...

Then at the bottom of the box, there is a send button.

I think people become confused between comments to the wall on their own pages vs sending a message.

Now go back to the Friend page at the top. Look for the link that says Comment next to the photos.  By clicking on "Comment" this will take you directly to their wall. Much easier to do if you just want to write to them instead of viewing their wall.

Learning how to navigate this website is challenging. I promise you if you give it a few days-learning will quickly grow on you :)

If I can do it, then you can too

Be well,

Too many emails?

Go to Settings, click on email (top left)

To edit your settings-I would opt for a daily digest this way you only get one email per day for the threads from groups and forums etc...  This is the first section at the top of the email page. You can select emails instantly or daily.  I like this option alot!

With any email that you receive- there is a small sentence that reads- "To control which emails you receive on Transplant Friends, click here" You will be able to edit all settings in a few seconds. :)

Some of you are writing in that you find this site confusing.

Here is one tip- notice when you go to  groups, videos, photos, forum etc the
words My discussion, my photos, my groups at the top of the page?

This will help you find where you left off last.  This will help if you have trouble looking for a post
or forgot where you were, check out one of these links.

The best way to communicate is to read from the emails.  You can click and respond very
quickly instead of looking all around the site.

I haven't been here in quite a while.  My kidneys failed shortly after my heart transplant, and when trying to wean off steroids I discovered my adrenal glands also gave up the ghost. I have not been able to claim my life back. Being steroid dependent has been more difficult to live with than the kidney failure! Has anyone heard of any info reguarding adrenal gland transplantation?  I have just been listed for a kidney and this will meet my max of 6 DNAs running around in my body.  If I don't get an adrenal gland at the same time, I will not be able to recieve one. The surgeon at Shands said that a new gland would simply shut down, just like the native ones did, but that's not what I'm reading.  He also said I wouldn't get any points for having had a heart transplant.  I didn't know they were giving points, I thought I fought for it so I could live!!  What were these points good for I wonder. Hate to think I missed out on a blender or a toaster oven or a cruise to the carribean.  Thoughts?  Anybody out there recieve an adrenal gland?
