I am Sushila. I have 4 sons and all of them are married. My elder three sons have 2 kids each. I live in Kolkata, India with my son's and their family. We are all a joint family which gives me the strength to live longer and stronger.

I was diagnosed with ILD in Dec 2006. Since then I have been on Steroids and immuno-suppressive drugs. Recently I had sent my medical records for review at UPMC for a pre-evaluation as a candidate for Lung Transplant. Dr. M Crespo at UPMC reviewed my records and I will be now travelling to USA for my final evaluation. I hope the transplant team finds me eligible for the lung transplant. The sad part is my insurance in India will not cover any of my expenses incurred in USA. So I will have to pay it all out of pocket.

I will stay in touch with everyone and answer all emails at the earliest. Any suggestions are always welcome... be it for travel to US/ lung transplant / pre-lung transplant care / UPMC / POC / Financial assistance / Pulmonologists...!!

God bless!!

Best regards,

Sushila Kankani, 61 Years
